Bob Casper's experience in academia combines a passion for instructional design with a deep commitment to accessible and innovative education. Currently, he serves as an Instructional Technologist in the Department of Instructional Design and Technology at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where he supports faculty, staff, and students in creating engaging, outcome-driven, evidence-based learning experiences.
Bob's journey in higher education began at Pasadena City College's ITV (Instructional Television Department) within the Instructional Resource Center. There, as a Multimedia Specialist, he led video production crews and facilitated the local educational TV channel Headend Operations and the campus-wide closed-circuit TV system. These experiences laid the foundation for his expertise in educational technology and multimedia.
Later, at
Boise State University, Bob further honed his skills, teaching upper-division web design and multimedia storytelling courses in the Media Department. He also served as a Discussion Group Leader for several years of the Science Fiction-themed UF100 course offered by Boise State's University Foundations. His work extended beyond the classroom, as he conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit for Boise State's online RN-BS Completion program and created training guides for Service Learning's Peer Recruitment Program.
Bob holds a master’s degree in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University, focusing on online learning, instructional design, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). His undergraduate degree is from California State University–Northridge in Radio/TV-Film, emphasizing Multimedia Management.
Before his time in higher education, Bob gained valuable experience in the computer industry with DELL and HP and in the film and TV industry, working with renowned companies like Disney and Warner Bros. These diverse experiences behind and
in front of the camera have shaped his approach to instructional design, blending creativity with a deep understanding of technology and accessibility.
Personally, Bob is deeply committed to his family. He enjoys spending quality time supporting his daughter’s volleyball team, embarking on guided fishing tours with his father, and swimming, grilling, or gardening with his wife, daughter, and extended family. His love for film and all things Disney often finds its way into his work, where he brings a touch of creativity and a “get-to” mindset to everything he does.
Whether in the classroom, online, or out in nature, Bob is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, making education a positive and enriching experience for everyone involved.
