About me
Gissel is an Open Science and Collections Librarian in the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. She helps build and maintain collections in the life and health sciences. Additionally, she supports researchers in navigating open access publishing. Prior to this role, she worked as a Selection and Outreach Support Assistant in the International and Area Studies Department, where she supported collection development in Western European Studies and coordinated the department’s various outreach initiatives.
As a first-generation college graduate, Gissel is passionate about doing outreach and demystifying the research process. She is a native Spanish speaker and has a knack for learning languages (Danish, French and Italian).
Gissel holds an MLIS from UCLA, as well as a BA in History from Georgetown University.
